Ph.D., University of Michigan. Holly Smith works on questions in normative ethics, moral responsibility, and structural questions transcending normative theories. Her book Making Morality Work was published by Oxford University Press (UK) in 2018, and has been the subject of reviews in the New York Times, Mind, Ethics, Utilitas, among others, and was the focus of an Ethics Review Forum on PEA Soup blog (one of ten most read substantive posts for 2019). Her most recent articles include “Alternative Actions,” forthcoming in The Oxford Handbook of Consequentialism, edited by Douglas Portmore for OUP (USA); “The Morality of Creating and Eliminating Duties” (with David E.
